HANDBALL COMPETITION

A CHALLENGE FOR YEAR 6

As a way of raising money to help with the cost of the Year 6 camp Mr K has suggested that we organise a handball competition for children in years 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Children who wish to enter the competition will have to pay an entrance fee.

There will be a girl and boy champion from each grade - champions will need to be presented with something for their achievement.

Now for the challenge - It is up to all of you to work out how the competition will be organised.

Some things you will need to think about -

prizes
when/where
entrance fee
advertising
rules
referees

There are I am sure many other things to consider and plan - GOOD LUCK

PROPOSED RULES FOR PRIMARY HANDBALL COMPETITION

These are the rules that people have come up with for our handball competition.
What do you think?
Can you think of any important rules that have been missed?

Referees decision is final
The court you play on and the people you play against will be chosen randomly.
An elimination warm up game will be played before every elimination game.
No Pop Ups.No Grips.
Serves must be at waist level.
Players can’t get out on the first serve.
You can only serve to a player who is in a square that touches your own square.
The ball can only bounce once in your own square.
If a ball rolls it is a replay.
If a ball is hit on the full into another square the player that hits the full is out.
A line ball is played on.
The last two players from every court will go into the elimination round for each year group.
There will be one boy and one girl champion handball player from each grade.

Mrs W is Trying To Learn How To Podcast

THIS IS MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT CREATING AND RECORDING A PODCAST.

IT WAS A BIT HARD AT FIRST - I HAD TO DO A LOT OF THINGS THAT I HAD NEVER DONE BEFORE.I AM HAPPY WITH THE FINAL RESULT .

EVEN THOUGH I'M HAPPY WITH THE PODCAST I KNOW THERE ARE A LOT OF THINGS THAT I NEED TO IMPROVE ON.

I AM SURE THAT PODCASTING WILL BE A GREAT WAY TO RECORD AND PUBLISH OUR RADIO SCRIPTS.

TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK - I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT ALL THESE NEW WAYS IN WHCIH WE ARE LEARNING.

POLICE LINE UP

YOUR TASK IS TO EXPLAIN THE “POLICE LINE UP” ACTIVITY TO THE PEOPLE WHO WERE AT THE CREATIVE ARTS EXPO TODAY.

YOUR EXPLANATION SHOULD INCLUDE ENOUGH DEATIL SO AS THE PEOPLE WHO WEREN’T IN CLASS WOULD KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO DO IN THE ACTIVITY.

THINK ABOUT ALL THE LEARNING THAT YOU DID DURING THE ACTIVITY. ASK YOURSELF THE QUESTION "WHAT MATHEMATICS DID I LEARN"?

OPTIONAL -
WHY DO YOU THINK WE DID THIS LESSON?

HOW WOULD YOU CHANGE THIS LESSON IF YOU WERE ASKED TO TEACH IT WITH A YEAR 1 CLASS?

PRAYER SITE

This is a really good site to help you with your prayer. I know that some of you may have used it last year however I also know that you will enjoy visiting the site again.

Let me know what you think.

AMAZING ACHIEVEMENT - V.O.Y

RockYou FunNote - Get Your Own

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU WHO RESEARCHED, PLANNED AND DELIVERED AMAZING SPEECHES.

I can not begin to tell you how very proud I am of all of you who worked hard on your speeches. I know that many of you find public speaking a daunting and difficult task however you approached the challenge with interest, maturity and commitment.

I learnt a little more about you all through listening to your speeches. I now know that Christmas Day at my house is relatively calm – I am still wondering where all the firies got to. I also have a new appreciation for the incredible powers that fruit and vegetables have.

It is encouraging to know that so many of you have strong and admirable beliefs about human rights, conservation, leadership and the overall well being of people in society. Jesus would be pleased to know that there are so many young people at our school who want to look after our world and the people living in it.

WELL DONE YEAR 6

Explain how you prepared for your VOY of speech.

Compare the way in which you planned for and delivered your Stories Alive presentation to your VOY presentation.

What will you do differently the next time you need to prepare for a speech?

What advice would you give to Year 5 for next year?

THE HOMEWORK GRID

The "Stage 3 Homework Grid"is in it's second week and it's probably a good time to share our thoughts about how the grid is going.

Name 3 activities that you have already completed on the grid?

Why did you choose these activities?

Do you think the grid is helping your learning?

Have you had any problems with the grid?

Is there another activity you would like to see on the grid?

Do you know what Mum and Dad think about the grid?

Why do you think that we are using the grid this term?
