WIKI vs PODCAST

6 Blue are all very busy at the moment thinking, creating and writing narratives and radio scripts. We have exciting plans for all of our hard work. We want to develop our writing skills, share our work with other people, know what other people think of our work, perhaps find out of others how we can improve our work and of course we want to display our work in a different and exciting way.

Why do you think we have we chosen different ways of sharing our work?

Briefly explain what work it is your doing for the Wiki and the podcast.

Why do you think a Wiki was chosen for our narratives?

Why do you think a podcast was chosen for our radio scripts?

Compare the two types of communication we have chosen. Do you think one is better than the other?

Hey 6 Blue, I like the ideas for your wiki! I've seen great stories written collaborately using wikis. Maybe you could have one story where you start off the first part & then get others to add to the middle & end. You could even do this with your Year 1 buddies.... What a great way to use the editing component of this medium!(and to teach the process of story writing)

I think that we chose different ways to show our work because it is more interesting and it is part of our HSIE about telecommunication.

For the wiki I am doing a story about a scary house down the street and I will let other people decide what the ending is. I am doing advertiseing for our blog and voicethread and wiki on the podcast.

A wiki was chosen because it is another way of showing our work and it is more fun than just writing it out.

A podcast was chosen for our radio scrpts so we can communicate useing our voices instead of just writing it out and we can talk to other schools about how good our school is.

The difference between a wiki and a podcast is that a wiki you can write things that people can read and like to communicate by writing and a podcast you can talk about things that people can listen to and it is just like a real radio. I would rather the podcast because we can use our voices to communicate instead of writing and it is easier.

***Why do you think we have we chosen different ways of sharing our work?
Because in H.S.I.E we are learning about communication and we are looking for different ways to communicate and this a different way of communicating then writing and talking.

Well year 6 are doing this radio scrip with Wiki and podcast because most of the other school in Australia or different countries are doing this and also because it’s a different way of communicating.

***Why do you think a Wiki was chosen for our narratives?
Because Wiki is a better place to set out our writing then on the radio because people can comment on them, finish an ending or edit it.

***Why do you think a podcast was chosen for our radio scripts?
Because it fits in more suitable then reading it in a book because you can tell what tone you have in your voice and you can tell if their voice is high, low, angry, happy, sad.

***Compare the two types of communication we have chosen. Do you think one is better than the other?
Well I don’t really think one is better than the other because the are both suitable for each subject and the way you are presenting it.

I think that we have chosen to share work like this because it’s different and fun.

The work we are doing with the wiki is you post things on like a blog, and a podcast is were you record your voice.

I think we chose a wiki because it’s different and more interesting.

I think that we chose the podcast because its easy to use and lots of fun.

I think that they are better than the others because they have easy instructions and is fun.

We think that we use these different ways of learning because they are much more fun and interesting. They are interesting because we can see how our fellow class mates are doing with there work, this gives us a small guide line to how to answer the questions that mrs W has put forward. It is fun because we do not have to write in a text book we can go on the computers.

The wiki is a site that you can post stories on to it so others can read your work that you have been doing in class, a wiki is like a blog. We are using this podcast so we can record our voices.

We think that we are using the wiki for our narratives because it is a new and exciting way of getting people to look at our work.

We believe that we choose a podcast so we can record our voices and listen to what we sound like.

We have agreed that the wiki would be the best because you may access it from any where in the world and at any time.
